A quick story
About
How Truesight began, and where it is headed.
Why this app exists
Truesight is my take on creating an accessible, fun tool that can let you be creative in developing your own world, for whatever setting you want to use it in. I tried to focus on creating a polished, straightforward world-building experience with a solid foundation, that is also visually pleasing. Features are still quite limited, but I have a lot of ideas on how to expand.
How it started
I would like to share a bit on how this started. My wife and I play a lot of Dungeons & Dragons. My wife is usually the Dungeon Master, and she loves building worlds. She uses Wonderdraft to create beautiful maps, and wanted to have some tooling to turn these maps into more interactive experiences. And so, Truesight was born!
The idea behind Truesight
The idea behind Truesight is different, I think, than most other worldbuilding tools. This tool will be less about flexibility, and more about accessibility and a fun user experience. Although I think I created a model that will eventually be able to cater to all kinds of creators, it will be nowhere near as flexible and expansive as some of the other worldbuilding tools. But if you just want a quick and easy tool to make the maps you created a bit more interactive, and a simple tool to create some locations, characters, quests, and factions, then this is the place for you.
Scribe
If you already tried Truesight, you probably noticed “Scribe”. Scribe is one of the core features that I made to try and set this worldbuilding tool apart from others. Although it is quite simple right now, the idea is that you are able to have Scribe assist with as much or as little in the world-building as you want.
Where it is going
With all that said, you can consider the product as-is, but I am still actively working on creating all kinds of cool new features for you to use. Your feedback is gold, because I want to focus on whatever it is that you would like to see next. In the User Settings menu you can create an issue, where you can request features, report bugs, or request support. You can also e-mail me at contact@truesight.world.
Support and Future Plans
Depending on the popularity, I will probably introduce a subscription service at some point, to be able to cover the costs that come with the infrastructure it runs on. Scribe especially can be costly if not properly maintained. Right now the web app is free to use with some limitations, so if you enjoy using it, please consider buying me a coffee, by clicking on the cup in the bottom right.
